About PONS

With PONS, it is possible to study at another German university in the extensive PONS partner network for one or two semesters during your studies. Students can take advantage of complementary courses at another university and make valuable contacts for a further Master's degree, a doctorate, internships or their professional career. In this way, PONS promotes active study design and specialization according to individual priorities, as well as the development of knowledge and the expansion of personal and professional skills.
Ancient Near Eastern Studies is involved in the program with 12 locations.

Application

Deadlines:

Summer semester: Application deadline January 15

Winter semester: Application deadline June 15

Did you miss the deadline? Send your application anyway. If there are still places available, applications can still be accepted later!

For the application you need:

• One-page letter of motivation (Why do you want to take part in PONS? Why do you want to go to the selected location? What else have you done voluntarily during your studies? Have you acquired additional qualifications, e.g. special language skills?)
• Curriculum vitae (in tabular form)
• Proof of previous academic achievements (Are you in the first semester of your Master's degree and have not yet completed any coursework? Send a copy of your BA certificate and your transcript of records instead! Your grades are not yet all entered in the system? Then send as many as you already have!)
• First request
• Second preference (it may happen that there are no more places for PONS at your preferred host university because too many people have applied. If you have a second choice, your application will automatically be forwarded to the second choice. You do not have to apply a second time).
• Send your application: as a PDF to PONS and also to your contact person at your home university.
