Prof. Dr. Andrea Behrends will take over as director of the institute starting this winter semester.

She was previously at the University of Bayreuth and has focused, in recent years, on topics of political anthropology in the context of flight and displacement, resource production and its consequences, and the datafication of lifeworlds, especially on the African continent. In doing so, she is interested in understanding how 'crises' are defined and lived in different ways. Her latest book on "Lifeworlds in Crisis" will be published by Hurst Publishers in 2024 (https://www.hurstpublishers.com/book/lifeworlds-in-crisis/).

Together with the Anthropology team, she is looking forward to new encounters, discussions and to giving the Institute of Anthropology a new direction.
