Takahashi Sanami will address how religion is perceived and engaged with in contemporary Japan.

Social activities conducted by Christian organizations in Japan have long been regarded as intrusive and unwelcome. However, in recent years, they have increasingly taken forms that do not explicitly emphasize religious identity.

The lecture will analyze this shift and discuss the role of faith-based organizations and the distinction between “good” and “bad” religion.

In doing so,  Takahashi Sanami will highlight how religion is perceived and engaged with in contemporary Japan.
