The un-sichtbar network is an independent working group of religious studies scholars committed to transferring religious studies content to the public. The un-sichtbar network includes several working groups that develop audio guides on religion in the local urban space in various cities. The audio content makes religious studies expertise accessible to a wide audience in a generally understandable and entertaining way.
Who is the network Un-Sichtbar?
We were a handful of religious studies students who wanted to ‘do something’ with what we had learnt. So we got this project off the ground.
Today, it has become the un-sichtbar network. It consists of graduates and students of religious studies and operates as a supra-regional project network that is active in various German-speaking cities.
What does the network un-sichtbar do?
Our core competences are audio guides on religious studies.
These are free of charge and can be used flexibly: for the curious or tourists, but also in schools and cultural work. Listeners are introduced to various religious communities, celebrations, practices and places in their immediate surroundings and basic facts are clearly conveyed. In this way, religious studies knowledge is made accessible to a wide audience in an attractive and generally understandable way.
What does the network un-sichtbar want?
The network un-sichtbar serves to strengthen the perspective of religious studies and religious studies as a subject in the public thematisation of religion.
In addition to the use of audio guides, the network ensures the sustainable transfer of knowledge by providing project groups and those responsible with expertise and resources for activities such as guided audio tours as well as materials and methods for use in cultural work and schools.
Our projects also promote the next generation of religious scholars in the field of project expertise and science-to-public communication. In this way, we also contribute to the formation of students' specialised identity as religious studies scholars.
