In the eye of the beholder. Roman emperors in pictures and text

In the current exhibition in the Window Gallery, you can look Roman emperors in the eye. Here you can find out what messages the portraits, which were spread throughout the Roman Empire, conveyed and how the mostly nameless portraits have been identified by archaeologists. In addition, photographs will give you an impression of how the plaster cast collection has been and is still stored in various depots.

The current exhibition was jointly conceived and realised by students of Classical Archaeology and Educational Sciences.

Anyone interested is cordially invited to take a closer look at the Roman imperial portraits ‘in passing’.
